As much as this movie wishes to make Ivan look like the villain, but then do remind yourself: Apollo was the one that first being rude to his opponent during the Press Conference. After that, Ivan was mocked and booed publicly. All this he literally said nothing. And then, when the person that you provoked, mocked, joked or booed begins fighting back seriously. Guess how the other side reacts? They complain and said this is just a joke. Typical American mindset. Provoke first. When the other side starts responding, they then start complaining and pretending this isn’t their fault. Moral of the story: Be respectful. Wanna joke, read the room whether the other side thinks your joke is laughable. A joke is applicable when both sides feel comfortable about it.

Rocky should've thrown in the towel. Real friends do what's best for their friend, making them mad is secondary to their health.
